BudgetBro should not collect bank passwords, move money, or use connected bank data for credit decisions.
Privacy policy
Clear rules for money data, account data, and AI features.
This Privacy Policy explains what BudgetBro collects, how we use it, how bank-connected features will work, who helps us operate the service, and how you can request access, correction, deletion, or account support.
BudgetBro is currently preparing for beta and production launch. Some features described below, including live bank sync, paid subscriptions, grocery inventory, restaurant menu pricing, and fuel pricing, may be in testing or not yet available to all users.
We use data to calculate safe-to-spend, goals, subscriptions, savings insights, support, security, and account settings.
Users can request bank disconnect help, account deletion, privacy support, or account-security review by email.
1. About BudgetBro
BudgetBro is a daily money decision assistant designed to help users understand what is safe to spend, track savings goals, review subscriptions, and find budget-friendly food, grocery, fuel, and local savings options.
BudgetBro is not a bank, lender, credit bureau, credit repair company, investment adviser, or payment account provider. The app is being built to help users understand and organize money data, not to hold deposits, move money, or make credit decisions.
General privacy and support questions can be sent to support@budgetbro.co.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use BudgetBro, we collect information from a few sources: details you provide, information created when you use the app, information from providers you authorize, and technical information needed to keep the service secure and reliable.
Information you provide
- Waitlist, support, and contact information: name, email address, phone number, referral source, topic, and messages you send us.
- Account information: name, email, phone number, login method, verification status, plan type, and account preferences.
- Budget and goal information: income ranges, bills, savings goals, goal costs, contribution preferences, spending categories, and budget settings you provide.
- Vehicle, fuel, and lifestyle preferences: gas, EV charging, no-car budgeting choices, weekly mileage estimates, and food, grocery, or fuel preferences you choose to save.
Information created by your use of BudgetBro
- AI assistant information: questions, prompts, chat messages, recommendations, and context needed to provide BudgetBro assistant features.
- Product activity: pages viewed, features used, button taps, waitlist submissions, preference changes, support requests, and beta feedback.
- Budget calculations: safe-to-spend outputs, bill pressure, subscription signals, spending categories, fuel-room estimates, goal progress, and other app-generated insights.
Information from connected accounts, providers, and devices
- Connected financial account information: if you choose to connect a financial account, BudgetBro may receive account metadata, balances, transactions, recurring income, bills, and subscription signals through a read-only bank data provider such as Plaid.
- Location and search information: approximate location, address or ZIP code you provide, nearby store, restaurant, fuel, EV charging, or grocery searches, selected options, and map-related preferences.
- Device, analytics, and security information: browser type, device type, pages viewed, feature interactions, IP-derived region, error logs, security events, and basic analytics.
- Provider data: information returned by maps, places, food, grocery, fuel, EV charging, payment, support, security, analytics, and cloud providers when needed to provide BudgetBro features.
We do not intentionally collect bank login credentials, passwords, MFA codes, full account numbers, or payment card numbers through BudgetBro forms. If you contact us by email, do not include those details.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- operate the waitlist, contact form, early access, and customer support process;
- create and manage your BudgetBro account;
- calculate safe-to-spend, budgets, savings goals, subscription insights, and spending recommendations;
- provide AI-powered budget explanations and assistant responses;
- show nearby restaurants, grocery stores, fuel stations, EV charging options, directions, and savings opportunities;
- process subscription billing and account plan changes when paid features launch;
- protect BudgetBro, prevent abuse, troubleshoot bugs, and improve product performance;
- send service, security, waitlist, beta, and launch updates.
We do not use connected bank data to make credit decisions, determine loan eligibility, or sell advertising profiles.
4. Bank sync and Plaid
BudgetBro should never ask you to give BudgetBro your bank username, password, MFA code, or full account number directly. When live bank sync is available, BudgetBro plans to use a secure provider such as Plaid to help you connect accounts with read-only access.
If you connect a financial account, BudgetBro may receive data such as account names, account type, balances, transactions, income patterns, recurring bills, and subscriptions so the app can calculate budgets and recommendations. We use this data only for BudgetBro features you request or authorize.
Plaid and other bank-data providers may process your information under their own privacy terms when you use their connection flow. You can review Plaid's privacy and security policies at plaid.com/legal. BudgetBro's goal is to store only the financial data needed to operate the app, keep access read-only, and avoid exposing bank-token secrets in the browser or logs.
You can disconnect a linked financial account or request deletion of related BudgetBro data by contacting support@budgetbro.co. When production bank sync launches, BudgetBro will also provide a clear in-app disconnect path.
5. AI features
BudgetBro may use AI providers to help generate explanations, suggestions, summaries, recipe ideas, budget guidance, and chat responses. We aim to send only the information needed to provide the feature and avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.
AI responses can be incomplete, delayed, or wrong. BudgetBro provides budgeting assistance, not legal, tax, investment, credit repair, medical, or professional financial advice. You should review important money decisions carefully.
BudgetBro does not use AI to make credit decisions, approve or deny loans, determine eligibility for financial products, or make other decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. We may use prompts, outputs, ratings, and safety flags to improve BudgetBro features, troubleshoot issues, and keep the assistant aligned with financial guidance boundaries.
6. Local savings, food, fuel, and store data
BudgetBro may use your approximate location, address, ZIP code, search terms, or location permission to find nearby savings. This can include restaurant options, grocery stores, menu or grocery estimates, fuel stations, EV charging options, local offers, maps, photos, directions, and selected merchants or stations.
BudgetBro is not currently a restaurant, grocery, delivery, fuel, EV charging, or merchant checkout platform. When live menu, grocery inventory, fuel price, or EV price data is not available or verified, BudgetBro should label it as estimated, pending, or last-known rather than presenting it as confirmed.
You can use many features without sharing precise location. If location permissions are available in the app or browser, you can change them through device, browser, or app settings.
7. How we share information
BudgetBro shares information only when there is a product, security, support, legal, or user-authorized reason. This table is meant to make those reasons easier to understand.
Service providers that help us operate BudgetBro may include:
- bank data providers, such as Plaid, when you choose to connect a financial account;
- cloud hosting, database, authentication, analytics, and security providers;
- AI providers used to power BudgetBro assistant features;
- maps, places, restaurant, grocery, fuel, or EV data providers;
- payment processors if you subscribe to paid features;
- legal, security, or compliance parties when required to protect users, BudgetBro, or comply with law;
- buyers, investors, financing sources, advisers, or successor organizations if BudgetBro is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale, or transfer of all or part of the business.
We do not currently sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We also do not use connected bank data to make credit decisions.
We may use or share de-identified, aggregated, or anonymized information for product improvement, analytics, security, research, or business reporting. We do not intend to re-identify information that has been de-identified unless needed to test whether our de-identification process works or as allowed by law.
If BudgetBro adds new partner offers, affiliate savings, or advertising-related features later, the policy and user choices should be updated before those features go live.
8. Cookies and analytics
BudgetBro may use cookies, local storage, pixels, logs, or analytics tools to remember preferences, measure site traffic, improve product features, prevent abuse, and understand waitlist performance. You can control many browser cookies through your browser settings.
Local demo preferences may be stored on your device while BudgetBro is in preview. Clearing browser storage may remove those demo preferences from that device.
9. Data retention and deletion
BudgetBro keeps personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, maintain security, and operate the business.
When you request account deletion or disconnect a bank account, BudgetBro will delete, de-identify, or stop using related information within a reasonable period unless we need to keep limited records for legal, security, fraud prevention, dispute, accounting, or compliance reasons.
To request deletion, email support@budgetbro.co with the subject line "Data Deletion Request."
10. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. These may include encrypted connections, restricted administrative access, multi-factor authentication for critical systems, backend-only handling of financial tokens, and security reviews before production launch.
No system can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure. If you believe your BudgetBro information may be at risk, contact security@budgetbro.co immediately. Do not send passwords, MFA codes, Plaid credentials, or full account numbers by email.
If we learn about a security incident affecting personal information, we will investigate and provide notices when required by applicable law.
11. U.S. state privacy notice
BudgetBro is in pre-launch preview and may not be subject to every U.S. state privacy law threshold yet. We still aim to present privacy information in a transparent way and honor reasonable privacy requests where we can verify and process them.
The categories below describe personal information BudgetBro may collect, use, and disclose to service providers or other parties described in this policy.
Sensitive personal information may include connected financial account data, precise geolocation if you enable it, login/security signals, and information you choose to include in support or AI messages. We use sensitive personal information only to provide requested features, secure the service, comply with law, or otherwise as permitted by applicable privacy laws. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics for unrelated advertising.
12. Your privacy rights and choices
Depending on where you live, including certain U.S. state privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- request access to personal information we have about you;
- request correction of inaccurate information;
- request deletion of personal information;
- request a portable copy of certain information;
- opt out of sale or sharing if those practices ever apply;
- limit certain uses of sensitive personal information if required by law;
- disconnect a financial account;
- opt out of marketing communications;
- appeal or ask questions about how we handled a privacy request.
To make a request, contact support@budgetbro.co. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests. If you use an authorized agent, we may ask for proof of authorization and may still need to verify your identity directly.
BudgetBro does not currently sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that changes, we will update this policy and provide any legally required opt-out choices, including a clear "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" path where required. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we will treat it as an opt-out request where legally required and technically feasible.
13. Marketing choices
You can opt out of non-essential marketing messages by using the unsubscribe option in an email when available or by contacting support@budgetbro.co. We may still send service, security, legal, or account-related messages.
14. Children
BudgetBro is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users under 18 should use BudgetBro only with a parent or guardian where applicable. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us so we can review and delete it if appropriate.
15. U.S. service and processing
BudgetBro is designed for users in the United States. Information may be processed and stored in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate. If you use BudgetBro from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as BudgetBro develops, launches new features, changes vendors, or updates legal and compliance practices. The effective date at the top of the page will show when the policy was last updated. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice through the site, app, or email.
17. Contact us
For privacy questions, support, bank disconnect requests, or deletion requests, contact support@budgetbro.co. For suspected account security issues, suspicious sign-ins, MFA trouble, or bank-connected data concerns, contact security@budgetbro.co.
Please do not send passwords, MFA codes, Plaid credentials, full bank account numbers, or full payment card numbers by email.
